Aims
Every student will:

KS3 Mathematics
Students in Years 8 & 9 follow the revised curriculum and have the opportunity to develop their knowledge and understanding of:
- Number
- Algebra
- Handling Data
- Shape, Space & Measures
A range of teaching strategies are utilised to ensure ‘Achievement for All’ and support the development of:
- Mathematical Language & Notation
- Problem Solving – using written and mental calculations
- Working with others
Students in Year 10 begin to study the CCEA GCSE Mathematics specification. This allows teachers to assess which pathway is best suited to each individual student so they achieve their Mathematical potential
KS4 Mathematics
Students can progress through GCSE level at various levels. We study GCSE Mathematics with CCEA at both Foundation and Higher level depending on student ability. Students sitting Higher Tier papers can achieve grades up to A and A*, while at Foundation level, students can attain a grade of a C* (it is also possible for some students to sit a combination of Higher/Foundation papers which gives access to a B grade).
At the end of Year 11 students will sit one of the modules M1-M4 (worth 45% of the overall GCSE grade) depending on the pathway that has been identified.
In Year 12 students will sit one of the modules M6-M8 (2 papers – 1 calculator and 1 non-calculator worth 55% of the overall GCSE grade) depending on the pathway that has been identified.
