On Wednesday 13th December, 18 of our Year 13 Sports Leaders celebrated the completion of their Sheer Skill award in partnership with Belfast Community Sports Development Network (BCSDN).
Over the course of 15 weeks the Sports Leaders have worked hard to develop their leadership and coaching skills through a number of accredited qualifications including Heart Start, Dodgeball Coaching award, Futsal coaching award, Sports Leadership UK Level 1 and Disability Sport award. They have had the opportunity to work alongside many local organisations including the IFA, Dodgeball NI and Disability Sport NI.
Having gained these qualifications and the confidence to deliver sports sessions, the pupils spent this afternoon leading primary school pupils from our local Primary schools. The course was then finished with a celebration awards ceremony attended by the Deputy Lord Mayor of Belfast and the NI Women’s Senior Football captain. The Sports Leaders then received their certificates and were commended on their commitment to the course and all they have achieved.
As a school we are very proud of these pupils who have grown in self-belief and confidence and are great role models for our younger pupils in school.
Well done to each of them!
