Congratulations to Year 12 student Faith Johnston on being selected to represent the Northern Ireland Women’s Under 17s for their friendly against Turkey in a fortnight’s time.
Faith, who currently plays for the Crusaders Strikers, has scored 13 goals in 9 league games this season and described feeling ‘speechless’ as she came to terms with the news. The 15-year-old striker admitted to shedding a tear after the hard work she has put in to earn her first call up to the Under 17s squad.
Faith’s form tutor Ms Campbell said, “I am exceptionally proud of Faith. She has fought hard for her place on the squad, getting back to fitness after breaking her leg last year and being absolutely, totally and utterly determined to show everyone what she can do. I know she’ll be a great ambassador for our school and even better, ‘Our Wee Country!’.
Principal Ms Stuart said “We all, at the Belfast Model School for Girls, are delighted that Faith has been selected to represent Northern Ireland. We are very proud but not surprised by Faith’s selection as she is a skilful, committed and talented player. Faith is a wonderful ambassador for her club, her school and her family. She is most definitely a MODEL leader – Motivated, Organised, Determined, Enthusiastic, Leader. We will be cheering ‘C’mon Northern Ireland…’ and Faith will always be a winner.”
Congratulations and good luck Faith, the whole of the Belfast Model School for Girls is behind you!
