On Friday 6th April Year 14 student Danielle Hill will begin her quest for gold at the Commonwealth Games in Australia.
Danielle booked her place in the Commonwealths Games back in December after breaking her own Irish record with a performance of 28.72 seconds in the women’s 50m backstroke final. Danielle will now take part in her second Commonwealth Games after already competing in Glasgow in 2014.
Principal, Ms Stuart said, “We all, at the Belfast Model School for Girls, are delighted that Danielle has been selected to represent Team NI at the Commonwealth Games in Australia. We are very proud but not surprised by Danielle’s selection, as she is a skilful, committed and talented swimmer, who works hard, trains well and never loses sight of her goals. Danielle is a wonderful ambassador for her club, her school and her family. She is most definitely a MODEL student – a Motivated, Organised, Determined, Enthusiastic, Learner. She is a wonderful role model for other students. We will be cheering her on and keeping a close eye on reports from the Gold Coast. No matter what happens – Danielle will always be a winner.”
