50 Year 9 students are taking part in an Art Project with local artist Anushiya Sundaralingam (kindly funded by the Arts Council of Northern Ireland). The theme for this project is Landscape.
As part of this project, the students went on a bus trip through the countryside, ending at Clotworthy house and Antrim Castle Gardens. We saw two exhibitions of Artwork in the galleries. It was a beautiful day so we were able to take photographs of the beautiful trees and landscape and spent several hours sketching and making collages in the Castle Gardens.
The students thoroughly enjoyed the day and Marie O’Donoghue from The Education Authority (who had accompanied us) was blown away by the engagement shown by the girls.
Some of the comments from the students:
“I loved learning by experiencing”
“It was calm and relaxing”
“It was very calm and peaceful. I loved it.”
“I made some new friends”
“I liked sitting on the grass and drawing the scenery”
Our next Art trip will be to the Ulster Museum so watch this space!
