On Friday 30th November, a team from Belfast Model School for Girls, Year 9, 10 and 11 students, went to Mount Pleasant to play against Bangor Academy in The Electric Ireland Junior Cup. It was a freezing day, so the girls had to do plenty of running around to keep warm! Bangor Academy dominated the first half by scoring 5 goals in the first 20 minutes. It was 5-1 at half time. The second half was Girls Model’s game, scoring 4 quick goals to make the game 5-5. Unfortunately, Bangor Academy scored within the last 2 minutes to make the game 6-5 and sees Bangor progressing into the next round of the Junior Cup. The girls all did fantastically well to pull the game back, but were very unlucky in the end. Goals were scored by Darcy Boyle (3), Leah Wilgaus (1) and Nikita Andrews (1). Player of the Match, voted by the referee, was Leah Wilgaus.
Good Luck to Bangor Academy in the next round!
