Two Year 10 students, Faith Young and Sophie Gordon, have been involved in writing a poem for the Cavehill Poetry Anthology. The girls have written the first of three verses of the poem. The other two verses will be written by students from other schools in North Belfast. The poetry anthology is expected to be published at the end of April.
The Waking Giant.
There is a giant in slumber below,
The horrors above him, he must not know.
Resting eyes that do not show,
A plethora of changes he’s never known.
Thrust upon his nose, a smell so strange;
A bright orange flame, a signal for change.
Now the behemoth is threating to wake,
The trees on the mountain tremble and shake.
