On Thursday 3rd October 2019, 22 girls from Year 8 and 9 participated in the annual Futsal Tournament at the Shankill Leisure Centre. Due to our increasing numbers at football club, we were able to enter 3 Year 8/9 teams into the competition this year, which is fantastic! The girls were brilliant! They played against various schools such as, Mercy College, Hazelwood, St. Josephs, Carrick Grammar and Bloomfield.
The girls played some amazing football throughout all 3 teams and represented the school very well. The A team came out on top yesterday beating all three of their school in the group stages, with Macy Cole and Amy Black scoring some cracking goals. This meant they got through to the semi-finals. Unfortunately, they got beat in the semi-finals to a very tough and skilful Mercy College. Other students who stood out was Sophie Bowler, Year 8, as a goalkeeper for the B team. Sophie made many outstanding saves to keep in the team in the competition.
Well done to all the girls for taking part and thank you once again to the Irish Football Association for putting on a great tournament.
