Junior Football – BMSG get the win against Lagan

On Thursday 1st December our students took on Lagan College and started the game with the win of the toss from captain Abbie Kincaid. The two teams put on a great display of football. Through all of Rosie McCombs efforts stopping attempts of the Lagan college attackers, BMSG went 1 goal down to a great one-touch finish into the top corner from the opposition’s striker. From then we played some great football and pressed Lagan College into making mistakes.  There was great link-up play from Lillie Horner and Aimee Allan who found her way to the box, getting fouled and awarded a penalty which was finished neatly into the bottom corner by Abbie Kincaid.

On a high after the goal we found ourselves moving the ball fluently and confidently and passes from Grace McCalmont and Shauna Richie, the ball found itself at the feet of Louisa Clugston in the box and with loads of time she composed herself and drilled the ball into the net bringing BMSG 2-1 up!

We then defended extremely well to all of Lagans efforts to get an equaliser in the dying minutes of the match.

It was a great effort from our students as they continue their run in the Electric Ireland Junior cup.
