On 24th August 2011 staff at the Belfast Model School for Girls participated in a CEIAG (careers education, information, advice and guidance) training event.
The objectives for the day were as follows:
- To inform staff of their role in the delivery of CEIAG in school
- To update staff on current labour market information
- To use ICT to raise awareness of potential career pathways in their subject
This was a very informative day, guest speakers included; Alistair Hamilton (CEO Invest NI), Dr Mark Barr (District Inspector ET1) and Michelle Fulton (B.E.L.B.).
“With greater choice of pathways comes greater responsibility to make sure that young people have the highest quality careers education, information, advice and guidance. Young people need support and assistance to become effective career decision-makers, making the choices that will lead them on to further or higher education, training and ultimately employment”
