Public examinations take place throughout the school year. The main period of written papers occurs during May and June. Modular examinations are normally held in November, January, February and March.

The school enters candidates with the following boards: CCEA, OCR, Edexcel, AQA and WJEC. Candidates may be entered for Entry Level, GCSE, GCE AS/A2 level, and BTEC qualifications and examinations.

The times and dates for public examinations are set by the exam board and cannot be changed by the school. Parents should note that family holidays arranged before the end of June may coincide with scheduled public exams for Years 11, 12, 13 and 14. Pupils who miss these exams will receive a U grade (fail). Re-sits for missed exams are charged to the parents.
