Congratulations to Year 13 student Danielle Hill on becoming Ireland’s fastest female swimmer at the weekend after breaking the women’s 50m freestyle record with a winning time of 25.94!
Danielle, competing at the 2017 Swim Ulster International/Dave McCullagh Memorial in Bangor’s Aurora Aquatic and Leisure Complex, broke the previous 15 year old national record of 26.02 and became the first Irish women ever to break the 26-second mark in the event.
Danielle also made the 50m Back Crawl final and broke the Irish Senior record in a time of 28.76 which is only 0.2 away from the World Championships Senior time. She also achieved a personal best time of 57.45 in the 100m Front Crawl.
Danielle came 2nd in the 100 Breast Stroke final, just behind her Personal best time of 1.03 and was part of a successful girls 4 x 100m Front Crawl relay team who came 1st overall.
Well done Danielle! It just shows how hard work really does pay off and we are extremely proud of everything you have achieved and continue to achieve! Next stop – qualification for the Commonwealth Games in Australia!
