On Monday 19th March our Year 9 students were delighted to have a visit by well-known local artist Anushiya Sundaralingam who came to the school to talk about her early life in Sri Lanka and how she became an artist living and working in Northern Ireland.
Anushiya showed pictures of Sri Lanka and described the country, religion and the beauty of the landscape. Anushiya also showed examples of her own work and how it linked to her culture. She also brought saris for the students to see and several girls were shown how to put them on.
This event is the first of a series of art events funded by the Arts Council, so watch this space!
