Some Year 13 students visited the Women’s Tec on Wednesday 12 December as part of their #notjustfortheboys initiative to get females more interested in career areas that traditionally they may not have considered. The students had the chance to hear and learn about the many job opportunities for women in these areas as well as the wages that can be earned from having these practical skills. The students cut tiles and some even started to tile a wall. Girls also tried their hand at carpentry and saw some of the chairs and table pieces on display that had been made by other females already working in this role.
Michaela Walsh, a local well-known Commonwealth boxer, was also on hand to inspire the students and some even were brave enough to put on their boxing gloves and have a go. A very informative and inspiring event. Thank you to all those involved and very well done!
