Year 8 students visit Gransha Equestrian Centre

On Thursday 6th February a bus was bound for Gransha Equestrian Centre with some excited Year 8 pupils and staff.  Ebony Hinton Boyd, Tia Foster, Casey Lane and Lacey McComb, accompanied by Miss Jemphrey, Miss Roberts and Mr Pollock (Board of Governors) made their way down the road to be greeted with fresh air and good country air.

The day was organised and funded by North Down and Ards Borough Council as part of a local community project.

The girls were shown how to mount the horses and were lead around the arena by staff.  Ebony’s horse, “Summer” seemed eager to start before everybody else and decided to head on herself.  They then had the opportunity to get their horses trotting.  Unfortunately for Lacy and her horse, “Rolo” he took a lot of persuasion to get going! The girls then rode the horses outside and around the centre, where they dismounted their companions and were fed and watered with a generous selection of pizza, chicken goujons, chips and drinks.

All girls displayed exemplary behaviour, great enthusiasm and seemed to thoroughly enjoy their experience.  I think Santa might be busy this year with requests for ponies!

I know I am looking forward to the next session next Thursday, as they say in the horsey world, “Giddyup”!
