Year 8 – STEM – Changes of State

At the end of January our Year 8 students welcomed Maria and Jonathan, two final-year undergraduate students studying Biomedical Science and Human Biology at Queen’s University Belfast. For their final year project they are investigating the effect of certain factors on STEM education engagement on Northern Irish pupils aged 11-12.

Our Year 8 students investigated ‘changes of state’. They demonstrated the elephant toothpaste experiment then made their own Oobleck to demonstrate the changes between liquids and solids. Our Year 8s definitely had a lot of messy fun making the Oobleck as you can see in our video below:
