On Thursday 20th May, our Year 12 Government and Politics class attended an event at Hillsborough Castle to mark the 25th Anniversary of the Good Friday Agreement.
Students took part in a Q&A session with David Kerr (UUP Director of Communications, 1996 – 98), Mark Durkan (Former Deputy First Minister), Monica McWilliams (Co-Founder of the N.I Women’s Coalition) and Alastair Campbell (Tony Blair’s Official Spokesperson, 1997 – 2000). The session was chaired by Suzanna Breen (Political Editor of the Belfast Telegraph).
Along with having the opportunity to ask questions, students also listened to members of the panel describing their experience of the Good Friday Agreement and the challenges it faced.
All students would like to thank the panel for sharing their knowledge of the Agreement as it will aid with their preparation for the upcoming Unit 2 examination.
