Reading

Reading is a fundamental part of life at The Belfast Model School for Girls. Students are given the opportunity to read in many areas of their school life, and we work to ensure that all students leave us with the critical reading skills they will need for successful, happy lives.

As part of our whole school focus on Reading, Year 8 students have signed up to the Libby app, completed Reading Tests to ascertain their baseline reading age, completed their Reading for Pleasure survey to identify their initial attitude to reading, heard about the importance of reading in assembly and they have been reading across the curriculum.

Well done Year 8 for the excellent, initial, first steps you have made on your learning journey.

8NS

8NS have been proactive in galvanising their reading progress as evidenced in their Bookbuzz lesson. Bookbuzz is an initiative being used to build a reading for pleasure culture in our school’s community.

All students are expected to read at home as part of our whole school focus on reading and students in 8NS have already been asking for additional reading material.

Keep up this excellent work!
