On Wednesday 11th December our Under 13 football team travelled to Lagan College to play in the 2nd round of the U13 NI Schools FA Cup. BMSG started strongly creating chances and deservedly took the lead with a great long-range effort. Both teams then battled to gain control in a tight game with chances for both teams but at half-time, the score was 1-0 to BMSG.
Just after the break a 2nd goal for BMSG was scored by Maci after a lovely passing move involving 4 different players. We continued to battle hard for the ball and after winning the ball back Mya found some space and hit another long-range effort looping over Lagan’s goalkeeper and into the net. With not long to go Lagan College piled on the pressure throwing everybody forward and scored 2 late goals. Despite the scare, BMSG dug deep, keeping hold of possession and held on to a 3-2 victory.
The goals were scored by Mya x2 and Maci.
Player of the Match was Jorja after her solid defending and hard work all over the pitch.
BMSG are now through to the last 16 where we await the winners of St Louise’s or Rathmore. The standard of teams is very high. Well done, a fantastic achievement so far.
Keep training hard on Thursdays!
