EDUCATION AUTHORITY NOTICE FOR FRIDAY 3RD OCTOBER – Emergency Early School Closure – Storm Amy
Schools Closures In Counties Antrim, Londonderry, Tyrone and Fermanagh.
Last night the Met Office issued an Amber weather alert, which covers parts of Northern Ireland from 3pm on Friday until 8pm and is warning of “spell of damaging winds on Friday late afternoon and evening”.
Following further confirmation from the Met Office this morning that this upgraded warning will remain in place today I am writing to inform you that all schools located in the areas affected by the amber warning in Northern Ireland are required to close at 12pm today, Friday 3rd October 2025, due to severe weather conditions.
Therefore, students will be released at 12pm today and I have been told that the school buses should be in operation as usual.
