On Tuesday 4th April, our Year 11 students hosted a Sports Festival for 87 local primary school pupils. We were also lucky enough to be joined by four time Paralympic gold medalist and local swimming hero, Bethany Firth!
Thank you to local swimming hero @BethanyFirth2 for helping out at our Sports Festival this morning and for bringing her @Paralympics🏅 too! pic.twitter.com/pqlgzdOnYh

The Sports Festival is part of the Year 11 Leadership Unit in Physical Education, with the pupils dividing their responsibilities for the event between management and coaching roles. Our students planned, organised and ran the whole event for the P6 children and did a fantastic job of coaching netball, dodgeball and athletics on the day.
To close the event Bethany handed out certificates to our primary school participants and inspired the students by talking about her experiences of two Paralympic Games in London 2012 and Rio 2016!
Thank you to all of the Year 11 and primary school pupils involved and especially Bethany for taking time out of her busy training schedule to visit us at the Girls’ Model! This was a wonderful event which was thoroughly enjoyed by everyone! Enjoy our photo galley below:
