PeacePlayers

PeacePlayers are an organisation who work with both Protestants and Catholics at a young age to form friendships and develop a range of skills through Basketball. At the end of January, we welcomed PeacePlayers to the Belfast Model for a taster session with our KS3 students. This was a fantastic opportunity to promote the work that PeacePlayers do and encourage our young girls to attend. PeacePlayers led the girls through an hour long session introducing them to the work they do in the local community through Basketball. It was a fantastic insight for our young people and they thoroughly enjoyed the session.

As part of their work, PeacePlayers are committed to organising a range of different programmes for our young people to attend and participate in.

KS3: Years 8 – 10

At KS3 they run the BUC Cross Community League (CCL) programme which runs weekly for 12 weeks from March to June, in the lead up to their annual Summer Jam tournament. The programme is for participants from 1st to 3rd year in Secondary school and runs over different days, times and venues to suit all.

KS4/5: Years 11 – 14

At KS4/5, they run a Leadership Development Programme (LDP) for pupils to engage in and develop core leadership skills. Participants from 4th year to Upper Sixth in Secondary school can register for this.

If there are any girls interested in signing up to PeacePlayers in the local community, please contact and/or speak to Miss Hill in the PE department who can provide you with more information.
