Congratulations to Creative Writing Club superstar Grace (12AH) who has placed FIRST in this year’s Féile Short Story competition (Aged 14-16) with her story ‘Flowers in the Battlefield.’

The judge’s praise for Grace’s story: Beginning in California at the time of the Vietnam War. this mature piece of writing, including some great descriptions, deals with the moral dilemmas faced by Jack, a hippie and pacifist, who is conscripted to fight in an overseas war he considers to be unjust. Should he flee and join other ‘draft dodgers’ in Mexico or Canada? Or should he fight?

Well done, Grace! We are so proud of you. Enjoy those well-deserved book vouchers!
