On Thursday 9th March, 28 students from Belfast Model School for Girls travelled to Liverpool on our Sports Tour as a reward for their hard work and commitment at extra-curricular sports clubs this year.
The group made up of Year 8-13 students took a flight to Liverpool at 8am on the Thursday morning and made their way to Weatherhead High to compete in a number of fixtures! First up was our Junior Netball teams who played a hard fought match but unfortunately came out on the losing side of two very tight games. A special mention must go to Year 8 student Paris Caldwell who played in both games and showed real talent when playing with the older students.
Our Football teams then competed in a 5-a-side tournament outside on Weatherhead’s astroturf pitch in the sunshine. A great tournament with some impressive football was played by all involved.
Thank you @GirlsModel for visiting us for the Sports Tour today! Our pupils are already excited for the return visit! pic.twitter.com/y4aULsb1FI

After lunch our Year 13 Sports Leaders spent some time with the Sports Leaders from Weatherhead. They planned some team building activities and games which they then delivered to a group of students from Weatherhead and the Year 8 and 9 students from the Girls’ Model. It was encouraging to see both sets of students interacting and learning from each other throughout the afternoon. A big thanks must go to the staff and students at Weatherhead who made us feel very welcome and had planned a brilliant day for all involved.
On Friday morning we had an early start as we travelled to Anfield for our stadium tour. Some enjoyed this more than others!! (Mrs Graham!) Following the tour we spent some time sightseeing in Liverpool before we headed to the airport to travel back to Belfast.
A big thanks to all staff who travelled on the tour and to the students for representing their school so well!
Enjoy the photos!
