On Saturday 26th January, 5 students from Belfast Model School for Girls competed in the UK Schools Zonal Trampolining Championships which were held in the new Blair Mayne Leisure Centre in Newtownards. The girls reached this section of the championships following success at the Regional Trampolining Championships, and luckily this year Northern Ireland were hosting this event. Success from this event secures gymnasts a place in the National Finals in England in March. Unfortunately, due to the very high standard of gymnasts, non of our students reached the National Finals, however, some were very close! The results are as follows:

Year 8-10 Intermediate – Sian Walker – 4th Place out of 42. Missed out on 3rd place by 0.3 marks to reach National Finals

Year 8-10 Intermediate – Maddie Cunningham 13th Place

Year 8-10 Intermediate – Charlee Wright 14th Place

These girls were also entered in as a team and came 3rd place, however, missed out on 2nd place to reach National Finals by 0.5 marks.

Lucy Turner and Cody Nesbitt also competed in the Elite and Intermediate sections for years 11-14 (still awaiting final results)

Congratulations to all 5 girls. An amazing achievement to make it to the Zonal round of the competition and very unlucky not to reach Nationals… this year! Next year!
