Belfast Model School for Girls brought their annual Hour of Code celebrations to an end, with our Christmas Continental Breakfast. We invited all students and staff to our breakfast, feeding everyone croissants, pain au chocolat all washed down with hot chocolate and marshmallows. Once fed, our students completed the Grinch coding activity. Our Sixth Form students were an absolute asset and assisted staff in the Digital Technologies and Modern Languages departments in feeding everyone and assisting with the Grinch activities in the computer suites! It was such a positive way to start a Friday morning with a great buzz around the building.
We concluded our activities by running a “Teach the Teacher’s” lunchtime drop-in. Our Year 8 Coding Club students performed the role of Teacher and enlisted a group of keen and enthusiastic staff to participate so that they could be taught how to use the Microbits. The competition between staff was fierce, with one of our teacher’s even resorting to cheating…all to win a game of “Rock Paper Scissors”. This proved to be a fantastic learning and leadership experience for our Year 8’s and they rose to the challenge superbly, teaching and guiding with such passion and enthusiasm. Well done ladies, we are so very proud of you all!
