On Thursday 19th October a group of students attended the annual Futsal Competition run by the NIWFA at Antrim Forum.  The Girls’ Model were able to enter a Year 8/9 team, a Year 10/11 team and a Year 12+ team.

Year 8/9

The Year 8/9 team who consisted mostly of Year 8s, and have never played Futsal before, played brilliantly however lost two games and drew one.

Year 10/11

The Year 10/11 team reached the semi finals and beat Larne High School 1-0 to reach the final with a great goal by Leah Wilgaus.  The nail biting final was played against Abbey Community College with  Darcey Boyle scoring a well worked goal to secure a 1-0 finish.

The goalscorers for the Year 10/11 team included Darcey Boyle, Cody Mullin and Leah Wilgaus.

Year 12+

The Year 12+ were also very successful, beating Parkhall 5-1 and 7-1.  Faith Johnston scoring four goals, Codie Baird scoring six and Abbie Robinson scoring two.

Both Year 10/11 and 12+ team have now reached the Northern Ireland Finals which are due to be played on Thursday 16th November at Valley Leisure Centre.  Well done girls, it was a fantastic day out and great football played all round!
